Corangamite Shire Council is reassuring the community that services will continue as normal despite the current fuel price surge affecting the region.
Diesel prices in Camperdown climbed above $3 per litre on Thursday 26 March, contributing to statewide cost pressures being felt by households and businesses.
Council Chief Executive Officer David Rae said Council does not anticipate any immediate disruption to services and is closely monitoring the situation.
"At this stage, all Council operations - including kerbside waste, recycling, food organics and garden organics (FOGO) and glass collections - are continuing without interruption," Mr Rae said.
"However, if elevated fuel prices persist, we may need to reassess how some services are delivered to manage increased operational costs.
"If there are any changes, we will communicate this with our community promptly."
Mr Rae emphasised that Council would work within its existing budget to manage the impact.
"Rising fuel prices place upward pressure on service delivery costs, but we will manage this in the short-term within our operational budget and through careful planning," he said.
He also acknowledged the impact the situation is having on the community.
"With this challenge, alongside ongoing drought and fire recovery, we know many residents are doing it tough," Mr Rae said.
