Council Signs MOU With World Leading Destilla Facility In Nördlingen

The Sister City relationship between Nördlingen and the City of Wagga Wagga, which was established more than 50 years ago, has just grown stronger.

When a Wagga Wagga City Council delegation visited our great city three years ago for the Stadtmauerfest, Nördlingen City Administration arranged a tour of our World Leading Destilla Facility.

Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Councillor Dallas Tout said Destilla produces natural food flavours and extracts and exports them throughout the world.

"Council was so impressed with the Destilla operations that it has continued to communicate with Destilla and Nördlingen, offering to assist Destilla establish an exploration and innovation facility in Wagga Wagga," Cr Tout said.

"These discussions have been positive, and we are very excited to announce that Destilla GmbH and Wagga Wagga City Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding as part of this year's Stadtmauerfest on Friday, 12 September 2025."

The key understandings in the document are that Council will work to locate a space in Wagga Wagga for Destilla to commence an early investigation business in Australia.

Destilla will work towards establishing the location as a base to explore our botanicals to discover new flavour opportunities for their international business.

"Both Wagga Wagga City Council and Nördlingen feel strongly about their relationship as Sister Cities and this exciting initiative brings us even closer together."

The Mayor and Council's General Manager Peter Thompson were in Nördlingen for the MOU signing ceremony as part of their official visit to the Sister City.
