A commercial kitchen, support from Timboon Bowls Club members, and accessibility upgrades will make sure senior citizens' monthly lunches remain on the menu.
From November, Timboon Senior Citizens Evergreen Club will move to the Timboon Bowling Club.
Evergreen Club President Harry Gilchrist said the club discussed the future of the Senior Citizens Centre and there had been unanimous support from the board.
"We understood that the current site of the Senior Citizens Centre in Timboon is to be redeveloped and repurposed in line with strategic development plan for the power creek precinct," Mr Gilchrist said.
The centre is used only once a week and community feedback during the Timboon Precinct Plan consultation suggested it could be turned into a community hub for different uses.
"The benefit to the community and the town of Timboon is appreciated and understood by the Senior Citizens group."
Mr Gilchrist said not having their own building would be a big change for the seniors but had worked closely with the Bowls Club and Council to secure the new location.
"We must ensure that we continue to provide care, support and amenity to our Senior Citizens in Timboon both in the short term and the long term," he said.
"We plan to provide meals and social engagement opportunities at least once a month: bus tours, subsidised lunches, entertainment."
The clubs are working with Council and sponsors to plan further access improvements at the new venue.
Mayor Kate Makin said Council will consider other ways to support the Evergreen Club such as potentially funding events and programs.
"This is the closing of one chapter for the Timboon senior citizens. It's been great working with the club to come up with a positive outcome for the next part of the story.
"With the senior cits moving to the bowls club, this space presents a unique opportunity to create a vibrant, commercially viable, multipurpose community hub in the heart of our wgrowing tourist town.
"Council will explore options for future use of the building, including an expression of interest process for the building
"If you have a bright idea about how to create a unique experience that benefits the Timboon community, expressions of interest are open from Monday 15 wuntil 5pm, Tuesday 30 September."
