Council's Family Day Care takes out top award

Northern Beaches

Northern Beaches Family Day Care has again been recognised as 'Exceeding the National Quality Standard' under the National Quality Framework.

Northern Beaches Council Interim CEO Louise Kerr said the National Quality Standard (NQS) sets the national benchmark for the quality of children's education and care services across Australia.

"Our Family Day Care service now ranks among the top 7% in New South Wales for the standard of services they provide to children and families," Ms Kerr said.

"This is a significant achievement and stands testament to the passion, professionalism and commitment of our managers, educators and other childcare staff who continue to provide highly personalised, flexible, quality care for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.

"They're most deserving of this award and we are incredibly proud of this achievement."

Services are assessed against the NQS by the NSW Early Childhood Education and Care Directorate and receive a rating for each of seven quality areas including health and safety, education programs, relationships with children and leadership as well as an overall rating.

The overall rating of 'Exceeding' is given only to services that go above and beyond the requirements of the Standard.

The NQS Assessment Officer detailed their findings on the service:

"Your service is commended on its achievements in providing quality outcomes for children.

Careful planning, reflective practice and willingness to collaborate with families and other community organisations to enhance children's learning and wellbeing demonstrate the commitment to quality by educators at your service.

The service's effective governance and leadership team ensures all educators, children and families experience positive, supportive and respectful relationships".
