Councils Star business and Shopper campaign is back

Has your favourite store registered as a Star Business for the Star Shopper competition yet? If they haven't, ask them why not!

Griffith City Council is bringing back the award-winning Glow2680 Christmas campaign after the overwhelming response last year which saw more than 15,000 entries submitted in the Star Shopper Campaign.

Businesses are invited to decorate and light-up their shop windows and register as a Star Business as soon as possible to encourage Star Shoppers to spend local in the lead up to the festive season.

Throughout November and the first week of December, by shopping at a Star Business customers will have the opportunity to win a $500 first prize or one of five runners-up $100 vouchers to spend at any one of the participating businesses.

Griffith City Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran, said the aim was to increase participation and engagement between Council, business and the community and to help invigorate the economy.

"I urge all retail businesses to register," he said.

"This Campaign is part of our wider Glow2680 promotion. I think it's a win for everyone. This allows Star Businesses to generate more sales and the Star Shoppers receive a nice little Christmas bonus to in turn spend more at their favourite Star Business."

Council will promote through social media including Instagram, and businesses are encouraged to showcase their displays using the hashtag #Glow2680
