COVID-19 update - 19 April 2020

The Department of Health has today reported a single new case of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State's total to 545.

The case – a male in his 50s from the Goldfields – is the contact of an existing confirmed case.

As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway to ensure close contacts are notified and self-isolating.

There are currently 28 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, six of whom are in ICU.

To date, 28,343 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19.

WA has 426 recovered cases, 48 of them from regional WA.
