Craigburn Farm man arrested for drug trafficking

A Craigburn Farm man was arrested and police seized thousands of fake Xanax tablets as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the southern suburbs.

Southern District Police attended and searched a Craigburn Farm address yesterday afternoon.

It will be alleged officers found approximately 3000 fake Xanax tablets, various other prescription medications (likely a combination of both fake and legitimate medication), a trafficable quantity of cannabis, approximately one litre of liquid heroin (also known as heroin slushie), about $10,800 in cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with trafficking in a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug, possess prescription drug and traffic in a controlled drug.

He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 2 February.

The seized items will undergo further forensic analysis and further charges may apply.

Investigations are continuing.

Police warn the public of the dangers of taking prescription medication not prescribed by a doctor and the inherent dangers in consuming any fake or counterfeit medicines; they may contain toxic or dangerous substances and are manufactured without any standards or quality control, often in unsanitary conditions in backyard laboratories.
