Creative Carlton burst to life on Saturday 21 March, as Bayside Council transformed the heart of Carlton into a colourful, high-energy celebration of arts, culture and community.
The dynamic festival showcased the suburb's growing creative scene through a diverse and engaging program of live music, performances and interactive workshops, inviting visitors of all ages to connect, create and be inspired. From hands-on experiences to a lively circus playground, the event delivered a playful and immersive atmosphere that delighted families and festivalgoers throughout the day.
Local artists, makers and performers were front and centre, bringing strong community representation and a distinctly local flavour to the program. Their talent and creativity shone across every corner of the event, reinforcing Carlton's identity as an emerging cultural hub within Bayside.
Carlton Parade and Short Street were transformed into vibrant pedestrian spaces, animated by roving performers who surprised and delighted crowds with spontaneous moments of theatre, movement and humour. Face painting and creative activities added an extra layer of fun, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.
A curated selection of food stalls and food trucks kept visitors fuelled, supporting local vendors while offering a delicious range of casual dining options that complemented the relaxed, festival-style atmosphere.
Creative Carlton was proudly funded by the NSW Government's Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW, helping to reimagine local streets as welcoming, people-focused spaces and bringing the community together in a celebration of creativity, connection and place.
Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said
"This incredible celebration of local talent has helped cement Carlton's status as one of Bayside's creative hubs. It was wonderful to see these local streets come alive with a diverse range of art, food and culture that was enjoyed by our community."
