There is plenty on offer in Darwin these school holidays, with City of Darwin hosting a diverse range of free activities designed to entertain, educate and inspire children, young people and families across the municipality.
Running until Tuesday 27 January 2026, the School Holiday Program features events for all interests and ages from babies and toddlers through to teens, and families.
Acting Lord Mayor Patrik Ralph said the program offered a mixture of creative, educational and fun experiences that encourage families to come together and make the most of the holiday break.
"Whether your child loves reading and books, or is a fan of gaming, comics and pop culture, there really is something for everyone in this year's school holiday program," Mr Ralph said.
Children can take part in a wide range of hands-on workshops, including animal education sessions, a drumming workshop and the chance to create a wooden Australian critter at a First Nations art workshop.
"For our youngest community members, Baby Book Time, Rhyme Time and Family Story Time will continue throughout the holidays as part of our regular library programming," Mr Ralph said.
Young readers are also encouraged to take part in the Dalay Reading Club, which inspires children to dive into books over the holidays, with a special celebration party on Friday 23 January at Casuarina Library.
The much-loved Geektacular, will return on Saturday 17 January 2026, transforming Casuarina Library into a vibrant hub of creativity celebrating gaming, comics, cosplay and self-expression.
"Created by fans, for fans, Geektacular continues to be a standout event for teens and young adults," Mr Ralph said.
"We encourage parents and carers to check event details online, including age suitability and whether bookings are required, as some activities have limited spaces."
