Cricket Victoria is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with Cricket Performance Lab (CPL), a team of multi-sport professionals that are dedicated to the relationship between athlete and bat.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in Cricket Victoria's commitment to innovation and excellence in player development, while also strengthening the connection between elite pathways and the wider cricket community through inclusive and forward-thinking.
The partnership will see CPL's cutting-edge technology and expertise integrated into Cricket Victoria's high-performance programs, providing players with deeper insights into their batting mechanics and helping coaches tailor training to individual needs.
CPL's unique approach, developed from over two decades of research in cricket, golf and baseball, focuses on the relationship between athletes and their equipment-specifically, how cricketers interact with the bat during play. CPL developed the Balance Point Index (BPI), an inferential metric that measures the pickup and balance of a cricket bat, thus allowing players to determine the perfect bat for them.
Graham Manou, General Manager High Performance at Cricket Victoria, said:
"We're thrilled to partner with Cricket Performance Lab to bring world-class sports science into our development pathways. This collaboration will enhance our ability to support players with data-driven insights and ensure Victoria remains at the forefront of cricket innovation."
Shannon Young, CEO of Cricket Performance Lab, added:
" We are excited to partner with Cricket Victoria, our first strategic professional cricket partner, bringing our cutting-edge technology and knowledge to adapt, innovate and evolve together to power athlete development and in-game performance".
In addition to supporting elite and emerging players, CPL will also offer its services to the public. The state-of-the-art equipment and analytics facilities located at the CitiPower Centre will provide community players, coaches, and enthusiasts access to world-class swing analysis and performance insights. CPL will open its doors to the public from August.
Dylan Prescott, General Manager Consumer Business at Cricket Victoria, said:
"This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to bridge the gap between our elite pathways and the broader cricket community. By opening up access to CPL's services, we're empowering everyday players to benefit from the same insights and tools used by elite cricketers-strengthening the connection between grassroots and high-performance cricket."
