Crisis Housing For Queenslanders That Need It Most

Australian Treasury

The Albanese Labor Government is delivering more than 200 new crisis and transitional homes across Queensland for those who need it most, backed by $133.9 million in funding.

These homes will support more than 7,000 vulnerable Queenslanders and give some of our most vulnerable families a safe place to rebuild their lives.

For women and children escaping domestic violence or a young person with nowhere safe to sleep, these homes can provide safety, stability and a fresh start.

The homes will be built throughout Queensland, including in regional areas.

The Housing Australia Future Fund Crisis and Transitional program is part of $1 billion in funding to help around 50,000 women and children experiencing family and domestic violence, and young people at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness over the next two decades.

This funding is a key part of the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children and builds on the Albanese Labor Government's $47 billion Homes for Australia plan.

The Albanese Government is building 55,000 social and affordable homes in every corner of our country for Australians experiencing, or at risk of homelessness, with more than 7,200 now complete and 23,000 in planning or construction.

This funding, together with our record support for frontline services, the Leaving Violence Program, and prevention programs, are all helping to create real change.

This is in stark contrast to the Coalition, who delivered just 373 homes in the nine years they were in office.
