Work will soon begin to replace a damaged stormwater culvert on The Lakes Way at Rainbow Flat, near Godfrey Hill Road.
Early site works will begin next week, with construction of a temporary bypass road expected to start in mid-October. The bypass will allow traffic to continue using The Lakes Way while the existing culvert is removed and replaced.
Works include installation of a new reinforced concrete pipe culvert, pavement reinstatement and rehabilitation of the site.
During construction, motorists will be diverted onto the temporary bypass adjacent to the existing road. Reduced speed limits and changed traffic conditions will be in place, with traffic control and some short delays expected.
Access to nearby properties will be maintained throughout the works. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to residents and motorists, however there may be temporary increases in construction noise and heavy vehicle movements while work is underway.
Replacing the deteriorated culvert will address the pavement and road shoulder damage and improve the safety and long-term reliability of this section of The Lakes Way.
Works are expected to be completed in late 2026, weather permitting.
