Cyclist dies after being hit by truck - Redfern

A cyclist has died after being struck by a truck in Redfern earlier tonight.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Chalmers and Cleveland streets about 6.40pm (Monday 23 November 2020), and found a food delivery rider had died at the scene after he was struck by a truck carrying an excavator.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene and initiated inquiries.

The driver of the truck – a man believed to be aged in his 30s – has been taken to St Vincent's Hospital for mandatory testing.

Inquiries are continuing by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) who have arrived on scene.
