Recognition marks a quarter of a century of excellence
Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center has been recognized as a Best Hospital for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report, ranked as #3 in the nation and the only one top ranked in New England for 2025-26. This is the 25th consecutive year Dana-Farber Brigham has been recognized for excellence.
In this year's rankings, Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center was also highlighted as high-performing for the following conditions and procedures: colon cancer surgery; gynecological cancer surgery; leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; lung cancer surgery and prostate cancer surgery.
In determining the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed a hospital's performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care.
"Our patient-first approach incorporates compassionate, highly specialized clinical care combined with revolutionary science to help achieve the best outcomes for patients. This recognition by U.S. News affirms our deep commitment to our patients and the tireless work of extraordinary clinicians, researchers, nurses and staff who are devoted to our mission," said Dr. Benjamin L. Ebert, president and CEO, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
"Beyond this outstanding recognition, for which we are grateful, what matters most is the hope, unparalleled care and compassionate service we bring to patients and their families each day," said Dr. Giles Boland, president of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Physicians Organization and executive vice president of Mass General Brigham. "That research-infused, multi-disciplinary, integrated care is a credit to the dedication each and every team member has to our mission of putting our patients at the center of everything we do."
For this year's edition of Best Hospitals, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures and conditions; only 13% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals designation.
"For more than three decades, U.S. News has been an invaluable guide for patients," said Managing Editor and Chief of Health Analysis Ben Harder at U.S. News. "With a 'Best Hospital' recognition, Americans, in consultation with their medical providers, can confidently choose a regional hospital known for providing superior care for their specific illness or condition."
