A man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in Townsville yesterday afternoon.
It will be alleged at 2.07pm a man was driving a Holden Cruise sedan at a carpark off Riverway Drive in Thuringowa Central in a dangerous manner including losing traction on a roundabout. Several pedestrians had to take evasive action to get out of the road of the sedan due to the manner of driving.
It will be further alleged a short time later, the driver stopped his vehicle before he threatened members of the public with a shifter. No one was injured and the man was not known to the people.
The man left the area in the Cruise sedan and police located him a short time later at a Riverway Drive in Condon residence.
The 19-year-old Kelso man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, going armed so as to cause fear, disqualified driving, drive unregistered vehicle, use vehicle without number plate attached and commit public nuisance.
He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday, 1 June
The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing the number of lives lost on our roads. However, enforcement alone cannot stop all dangerous driving behaviours.
Every choice you make behind the wheel, matters. Driving under the influence, speeding, driving distracted or while fatigued, or not wearing a seatbelt puts your life – and the lives of others – at serious risk. These dangerous behaviours will not be tolerated.
Queenslanders can expect police – anywhere, anytime.
