The second Danjoo Koorliny Walking Together Social Impact Summit was held in early August 2020 as the culmination of the Social Impact Festival's opening week (3rd - 9th).
Starting with the Meeka Moorart Full Moon Celebration on Gurndandulup / Matilda Bay, hundreds of people gathered to enjoy a cultural experience and to welcome the season of Djilba.
The following day of the Festival (4th August), an extraordinary Elder-Leader Briefing was held by the Danjoo Koorliny leaders: Dr Noel Nannup OAM; Professor Emeritus Colleen Hayward AM; Dr Richard Walley OAM; and Carole Innes. Other Elders and leaders, the Governor of Western Australia The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, WA Chief Scientist Professor Peter Klinken AC, politicians, members of the WA Police Force, and other Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal leaders also joined the briefing.
Starting Friday evening and continuing through Saturday (7th - 8th August), the Festival's flagship event the Danjoo Koorliny Walking Together Social Impact Summit, was held at the UWA Business School.
The summit brought people together from around the state, whilst the virtual live-stream shared the event with the world.
The Summit was a time to reflect on what has shifted over the past year and to set the focus for the year(s) ahead, for what has now become a large-scale, long-term, systems-change project, walking towards 2029 (200 years of colonisation in Perth) and beyond.
The Festival's activities ended with a Community Space event on Sunday (9th August), where people came together to see artworks created during the Festival, share conversation, build community and listen to story and song. There was also an experience of the six Noongar seasons.
