The Northern Territory is leading the way in the effort to bring Australians home.

The latest data from the Centre for National Resilience has revealed more than 15,500 Australians from overseas have now returned home through the NT since the international repatriation program began in October last year.

This comes as the longest commercial flight over the duration of the pandemic is set to land in Darwin from Argentina tonight after flying over Antarctica.

Darwin International Airport has now accepted repatriation flights to bring Australians home from every continent.

The Territory Labor Government has worked closely with Darwin International Airport, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Border Force, Defence, The Australian Federal Police, Health authorities and Qantas to achieve this important milestone.

This is another example of the Territory Labor Government's successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quotes from Minister for National Resilience Natasha Fyles:

"Australians abroad have been desperate to return home and we are proud to have reunited them with their families.

"The Centre for National Resilience has lived up to its reputation as a gold-standard quarantine facility and has allowed us to bring Australians home without putting the community at risk of an outbreak.

"I particularly thank the Commonwealth Government for the work they have done to ensure Australians can return home via the Northern Territory.

"Frontline workers in the Northern Territory have worked tirelessly to support our efforts to repatriate Australians returning from overseas and their efforts deserve to be applauded."
