City of Darwin invites families, friends and fun-seekers to attend the inaugural Jingili Water Festival and Families Week event, a free community celebration on Saturday 17 May 2025 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Jingili Water Gardens.
Hosted by the Chan Ward Elected Members in conjunction with Fun Bus and Fun in the Parks, the Jingili Water Festival takes place during Families Week.
Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis encouraged everyone to attend the free community event.
"We are incredibly excited about our first ever Jingili Water Festival and Families Week event, which will feature a range of free entertainment for all ages and abilities to enjoy," Mr Vatskalis said.
"We will have water-based play face painting, a petting zoo, water slides, Dunkaroo for Kids and a foam cannon, as well as live tunes from our resident DJ and a visit from crowd-favourite Boof the Barra and a barramundi-themed scavenger hunt.
"Our Fun Bus and Fun in the Parks teams will also be on site to entertain children of all ages.
"For the young at heart and youth, there will be learn-to-skate workshops at the Jingili Skate Park, water themed canvas painting sessions, an adult Cold Plunge Challenge and guided walks.
"Larrakia Nation, Royal Life Saving NT and Power and Water will be on hand to provide engaging presentations," he said.
Attendees are encouraged to bring bathers for water-based activities and try their hand at the plunge and Dunkaroo with prizes to be won.
National Families Week, an annual celebration of families, takes place from Monday 12 until Sunday 18 May 2025 and is a time to celebrate with family, connect with extended family and friends and share in the enjoyment of family activities within the wider community.
A special Families Week edition of the Fun Bus will also take place on Wednesday 14 May 2025 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm at Bicentennial Park, Esplanade.
The event will include all the usual Fun Bus activities as well as extra fun including music and dancing, arts and crafts, outdoor games and morning tea.
