Darwin City Council

City of Darwin is excited to host 2025 Darwin Fusion, a two-day program taking place on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 May 2025, with two entertaining international events available for the public to attend.

During the day on Friday 23 May, the 2025 Darwin International Trade Show will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Esplanade and in the evening the Garramilla International Food Fair will be held at Bicentennial Park, The Esplanade.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said Darwin Fusion isn't just for businesses, it's a chance for the community to explore and discover the best of Darwin retail, business and food.

"Whether you're looking for travel inspiration, information on local services or unique gift ideas, there's something for everyone at the Darwin International Trade Show," Mr Vatskalis said.

"From travel and holiday specialists, learning opportunities for students of all ages and a range of staycation ideas, the Trade Show aims to connect local and interstate tourism and economic agencies as well as Darwin's international networks.

"From 5:00 pm we have partnered with Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation to host the Garramilla International Food Fair, incorporating international cuisines, food stalls and performances that showcase Darwin's rich multicultural community and heritage.

"Multicultural community groups, organisations and individuals will share their food, engage with attendees and promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of Larrakia people.

"There will be a range of food available from all over the world, including Vietnamese, Chinese, Balinese, Thai and Indian, as well as Filipino ice cream, Taiwanese street food and Greek BBQ.

"There will also be a number of performances taking place from groups including the Darwin Bali Community, Amboina Ukulele Kids Community, Australia China Friendship Society, CDU Confucius Institute and the Keltikka Performance Dance Company.

"Garramilla is the Larrakia word for Darwin, and the Food Fair will celebrate our beautiful city, our Larrakia heritage and our diverse community.

"We are looking forward to showcasing Darwin's unique economic opportunities and welcoming local, interstate and international guests and visitors to the city as part of 2025 Darwin Fusion," he said.

On Thursday 22 May, City of Darwin will host the 2025 International Relations Conference, bringing together policymakers, academic and industry experts, businesses and civic leaders to discuss the challenges, benefits and opportunities Sister Cities relationships bring.

A range of delegates will travel to Darwin for the conference, including representatives from Dili, Denpasar, Ambon, Saumalaki, Guangzhou and Santa-Cruz Galapagos.

The 2025 Darwin Fusion event aims to develop domestic and international relationships and to enhance cultural communication and economic exchange.

Each event in the program will celebrate Darwin's unique community and culture, as well as showcase opportunities to local, national and international audiences.
