Dashcam appeal after life-threatening collision in Essendon

Flemington police are appealing for dashcam footage following a life-threatening multi-vehicle collision in Essendon on Friday.

It's understood a silver Volkswagen Golf was travelling east along Fletcher Street when it approached a roundabout at the intersection of Nicholson Street about 9am on 9 July.

The driver allegedly travelled straight through the roundabout on tram tracks and collided with a grey Subaru Liberty that was travelling south through the roundabout.

The Subaru was pushed west along Fletcher Street where it veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into a parked white Hyundai i30.

The driver of the Subaru, an 88-year-old Epping man, was trapped in the vehicle before being removed by emergency services and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 38-year-old Epping woman, was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

No one was inside the parked Hyundai i30 at the time of the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing and investigators are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed it or have dashcam footage.

Anyone with information that would assist with the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
