Queensland Corrective Services can confirm that we are assisting Queensland Police Service's investigation into the death of a 45-year-old prisoner at Ipswich General Hospital following a medical emergency at Borallon Training and Correctional Centre this afternoon.
The man appeared to faint about 2pm whilst at his work location in the prison.
He was immediately assessed and treated by medical staff before being transported to Ipswich by ambulance.
The man was declared deceased at about 5pm. His family have been informed, and support has been offered.
Queensland Police Service was notified of the incident and we are assisting them with the matter.
Our condolences go to the man's family and friends.
