Death of an inmate from Regional Psychiatric Centre 30 May

On May 28, 2020, Louie Kenneth Bird, an inmate from the Regional Psychiatric Centre died of apparent natural causes while in our custody.

At the time of his death, Mr. Bird was serving a life sentence for Unlawfully at Large and Second Degree Murder that commenced on May 2, 1985.

The inmate's next of kin have been notified of his death. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) extends its condolences to the family.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
