Decision day for weak Premier 13 February 2024

Tas Labor

Decision day has arrived for Jeremy Rockliff - but true to form, it doesn't look like he'll be the one deciding anything.

Will the Liberal cabinet show the conviction the Premier has so desperately lacked throughout his latest sorry saga, and finally call an election?

Or will the Premier's 'loyal' deputy, speaking on behalf of the rising right of the party, tell Mr Rockliff to pull his head in so they can see out a full term?

Mr Ferguson was very careful with his words when asked about an early election yesterday, doing his best to hide how furious he is that his shot at being Premier could be evaporating before his eyes.

Tasmanians voted for a Peter Gutwein majority government but they got a Jeremy Rockliff circus instead.

Even if the Premier does finally muster some courage today, the damage to his own reputation has already been done.
