Delahey Reserve improvements for win

Delahey residents and three community sporting clubs will benefit from a $4.095 million upgrade to Delahey Reserve – with work already underway on a new sports and community pavilion.

Brimbank Council has welcomed the State Government announcement it will invest $375,000 in the project, which will create an inviting, clean and safe female friendly facility for participants, spectators and officials to enjoy.

The new pavilion will include a social room, kitchen, toilets, umpires room, first aid room, and storage. The project will also replace two portable change rooms and create a new car park next to the main pavilion.

Work on site is progressing well – with the concrete slab, steel frame and internal stud walls already completed.

The next stage will include completion or roof works, doors and windows, bricklaying, electrical, plumbing and ventilation.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year, and ready for clubs to use in early 2022.

Delahey Reserve is used by three sports clubs: the ETA Buffalo Soccer Club, Taylors Lakes Football Club and Taylors Lakes Cricket Club.

Community groups will also be able to book the space during the day and the social space can be divided into two areas so two groups can use it at the same time.

Please attribute quotes to Brimbank Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic:

"Community sport plays such an important role in bringing people together and that is why we're investing in upgrading the Delahey Reserve," Cr Rasic said.

"Council thanks the State Government for supporting our community through this much-needed investment in community sport.

"As we recover from COVID-19, community sporting clubs will play an important role in re-building the healthy routines, connections, friendships that help weave our community together.

"Similarly, investment in community infrastructure helps to get our local economy moving again – which is critical as our community recovers from the economic and wellbeing impacts of COVID-19.

"I look forward to seeing clubs and the broader community enjoying these fantastic new facilities soon."
