The Crisafulli Government has delivered on two key election commitments, providing $28,000 in funding to support vital upgrades for community facilities in the Gympie region.
The Lower Wonga Hall & Recreation Association secured funding to purchase a new lawn mower to maintain the hall's grounds and table holders to safely store and transport foldable tables when not in use.
The Widgee District Hall and Recreation Association received an investment to install an accessible ramp, improving access to the hall's toilet facilities and ensuring the space is welcoming and inclusive for all members of the community.
It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future and a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, after a decade of decline under Labor.
For too long, regional Queensland communities were overlooked under the former Labor Government, with local facilities missing out on vital support.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering for regional Queensland by backing the places that sit at the heart of the Gympie community and bring people together.
Minister for Local Government and Water Ann Leahy said the funding demonstrated the Crisafulli Government's support for regional Queensland communities.
"Community halls are the heart of many regional areas, and these vital upgrades ensure they remain safe, inclusive and functional for everyone to enjoy," Minister Leahy said.
"We're proud to deliver on these election commitments and provide meaningful support for the Gympie community, helping to enhance local facilities."
Member for Gympie Tony Perrett said the funding delivered practical improvements for local community groups.
"We committed to backing grassroots community facilities in the Gympie region, and it's fantastic to see these projects now delivered for Lower Wonga and Widgee," Mr Perrett said.
"This funding is making a real difference on the ground, helping local volunteers maintain their facilities and ensuring community spaces are more accessible and usable for everyone."
Leanne Tunny, Secretary of Lower Wonga Hall & Recreation Association said the organisation was very appreciative of the recent funding acquired from the Crisafulli Government.
"The mower will be a welcome addition to our community hall as it has upgraded our well-used mower," Ms Tunny said.
"The table trolleys are fantastic as we can move the tables with ease and can also safely store the excess tables when they are not needed."
Sue Lohse, Secretary of Widgee District Hall and Recreation Association said the accessible ramp had transformed the hall into a more inclusive space for the community.
"The accessible ramp to our disabled toilet and shower will ensure that everyone, regardless of mobility, can access the facilities comfortably and safely," Ms Lohse said.
"The upgrade means so much to our community for when we have an event and we are incredibly grateful to the Queensland Government for their support."
