A man has been charged following an alleged incident on a cruise ship in waters off the coast of Queensland.
Detectives from the Gateway Child Protection and Investigation Unit arrested a 71-year-old man yesterday morning at the Port of Brisbane for the alleged assault of a 14-year-old girl on board the vessel Thursday night.
It will be alleged the 71-year-old man confronted and grabbed the girl, not known to him, shortly before 11pm near a lift.
The girl alerted nearby staff who intervened. The girl was not physically hurt.
The man has been charged with deprivation of liberty and two counts of common assault.
Police have objected to bail and the man is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, June 23.
