Deprivation of liberty, Chermside

Queensland Police have charged a man with several offences, including deprivation of liberty and torture, following investigations into an alleged assault at Chermside on Saturday night, October 14.

It will be alleged around 11:45pm, the 26-year-old Chermside man met two women at a Fortitude Valley business before the three of them travelled to a Latham Street, Chermside address.

While at the address, it will be alleged the man proceeded to assault both women multiple times and prevented them from leaving for a period of time.

The women were eventually able to escape the address and sought medical assistance.

Following investigations by Carseldine CIB Detectives, the 26-year-old Chermside man was arrested and charged with eight counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and two counts each of deprivation of liberty, torture.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, October 16.
