Detectives investigate Swanston Street robbery

Melbourne Embona Taskforce detectives are appealing for public assistance following a robbery in Melbourne earlier this month.

Investigators have been told a man was withdrawing cash from an ATM on Swanston Street when he was approached by an unknown man about 12.50am on 9 March.

The man made demands for cash and snatched it from the victim before kicking him.

He then took off on foot with a quantity of cash and fled down Little Bourke Street.

The victim, a 19-year-old Melbourne man, attempted to chase after the offender before alerting police.

Detectives have released CCTV and images of a man who they believe will be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is perceived to be African in appearance, aged in his late teens and has a medium build.
