Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a man with alleged child grooming offences and possessing child abuse material under Strike Force Trawler.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
In May 2026, strike force detectives commenced investigation into the online activities of a 22-year-old man.
Assuming the online identity of a female child, detectives spoke with a man who allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the child.
About 6.20am yesterday (Wednesday 17 June 2026) strike force detectives executed a search warrant in Tocumwal, on the NSW Victoria border.
Detectives seized electronic devices that allegedly contained child abuse material.
A 22-year-old man was arrested and taken to Finley Police Station, where he was charged with 15 counts of use carriage service-solicit child abuse material, three counts of use carriage service make available child abuse, use carriage service-procure less than 16 sexual activity, possess child abuse material and use carriage service to plan/procure for sex person.
He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Local Court 5 today (Thursday 18 June 2026).
