Equifax Australasia Credit Ratings Pty Ltd (EACR) has been appointed to design, develop, implement and operate a new Developer Rating Scheme.
The Scheme will improve the way large scale renewable energy and transmission companies engage with communities when developing clean energy infrastructure.
EACR has immediately commenced a pilot as part of testing the Scheme. It will work with eligible businesses that responded to the Registration of Interest process earlier this year.
The Scheme will provide transparent, periodic assessments of renewable energy and transmission businesses. Using objective measures, it will assess their:
- performance
- track record
- capability - including their community engagement capability.
Companies in scope include:
- renewable energy and energy storage project developers and related entities
- transmission and associated infrastructure
- major contractors.
EACR will collaborate with key stakeholders in refining the Scheme during the pilot phase. This includes:
- Commonwealth, state and local governments
- businesses
- NGOs
- landowners and communities.
Following the completion of the pilot, the Scheme will implement a public-facing register of renewable energy and transmission businesses that meet minimum assessment standards. This will be free and open to the public.
