DevelopmentWA CEO Retires After Distinguished Service

DevelopmentWA's chief executive officer Dean Mudford has announced his retirement from the role after four years of service.

The Cook Labor Government sincerely thanks Mr Mudford for his dedicated service and his lasting contribution to Western Australia.

During his tenure, Mr Mudford oversaw the delivery of significant land, housing, and urban renewal projects aligned to the State Government's priorities, including Subi East, Ocean Reef Marina, Pier Street, Bentley, and Beaconsfield.

In his 11 years with DevelopmentWA, he has played a central role in DevelopmentWA's response to Western Australia's housing and land supply needs.

Mr Mudford also led the establishment of DevelopmentWA's built-form capability, strengthening the agency's ability to support the delivery of more diverse housing outcomes and bring priority projects to fruition.

The Cook Labor Government acknowledges Mr Mudford's leadership and dedication, and thanks him for his lasting contribution to DevelopmentWA, its people, industry partners, and communities across Western Australia.

Strategy, Engagement and Business Development executive general manager Lorissa Kelly has been appointed acting chief executive officer, effective immediately, to ensure continuity while a process to appoint a new chief executive officer is undertaken.

Ms Kelly brings extensive executive experience within the State Government, having previously held senior executive roles at the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

As stated by Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:

"Dean has played an important role in supporting the delivery of the Cook Labor Government's housing and land supply priorities, including progressing key projects that respond to the needs of Western Australians.

"His leadership has supported the advancement of important projects including Pier Street, Subi East, Ocean Reef Marina, Bentley, Mount Lawley, and Beaconsfield, as well as the establishment of DevelopmentWA's built-form capability.

"I sincerely thank Dean for his contribution and wish him and his family the very best."

As stated by DevelopmentWA Chair Darren Cooper:

"During his four years as chief executive officer and 11 years of service to the organisation, Dean has made a considerable contribution to DevelopmentWA and to the delivery of major land, housing, and urban renewal projects across Western Australia.

"As DevelopmentWA's chief executive officer, Dean guided the agency as its remit expanded into built form, helping position DevelopmentWA to take on a broader role in supporting housing delivery, urban renewal, and priority State Government projects.

"On behalf of the Board, I thank Dean for his leadership and dedication and wish him well in his retirement."
