Director-General condemns killing of journalist Fritz Dorilas in Haiti

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has denounced the killing of radio journalist Fritz Dorilas, who was shot dead in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on 5 November. He is the eighth media worker killed in Haiti this year.
I condemn the killing of Fritz Dorilas. I call on the authorities to investigate the circumstances and motives of this murder, and to spare no effort in ensuring that all journalists in Haiti can do their vital work without fear of violence.

Fritz Dorilas, co-host of the weekly legal affairs programme Le droit, la loi et la justice on Radio Megastar, was killed by unidentified gunmen.

UNESCO promotes the safety of journalists through global awareness-raising, capacity building and by coordinating the implementation of the UN Plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
