James Cook University is inviting the community to explore its Cairns Nguma-bada campus (Smithfield) this Friday, July 24, with Open Day offering an inside look at the University's internationally recognised teaching, research and student experience.
Attendees can discover a variety of study areas through interactive presentations and guided campus tours, including the opportunity to step inside the immersive virtual reality CAVE at JCU's Ideas Lab.
The day begins with Schools' Open Day from 9am to 1pm, when hundreds of students from across Far North Queensland will visit the campus to explore facilities and meet academic staff in an informal setting.
From 3pm to 6pm, the campus will welcome the wider community, giving prospective students and their families the opportunity to see first-hand what studying at JCU in Cairns has to offer.
Visitors can also tour the University's on-campus accommodation and explore its modern teaching and learning spaces, providing a glimpse of what life as a JCU student could look like.
JCU Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs said Open Day provides an opportunity for future students and their families to experience the University first-hand.
"We're pleased to welcome the Far North Queensland community onto campus and showcase everything that makes JCU a leading regional university," he said.
"Open Day is the perfect opportunity to explore our diverse range of study options, meet the people behind our teaching and research, and experience our facilities for yourself.
"With plenty of interactive activities throughout the day, visitors can discover the outstanding opportunities available to JCU students."
There will be food and drink options available for purchase on the day while attendees can also capture the moment and get a glimpse of their future at the photobooth.
