A 41 year old Penguin women will appear in court today in relation to several high risk traffic offences.
At approximately 5:30 pm on Thursday 8 December, police were alerted to dangerous driving behaviour of a White Toyota Corolla on Preservation Drive, Sulphur Creek.
The vehicle was reportedly being driven in an erratic manner, had punctured a tyre, and was narrowly missing other vehicles.
Police resources were deployed from the Ulverstone, Devonport and Burnie Stations before the vehicle was located on Pine Road, Penguin.
The woman driving the vehicle was already disqualified from driving. She has received an additional 2-year minimum driver disqualification and will appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court for driving disqualified, exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit (0.152), driving with alcohol in her body, driving under the influence and failing to appear on a previous warrant.
'This woman should have never even been on the road and combined with her high alcohol reading she has endangered so many other lives,' said Acting Inspector James Scicluna.
'For months we have been saying that this type of behaviour is not acceptable, and it is clear that our community have also had enough. Multiple people contacted us in relation to this driver and I'd like to thank everyone that helped us to stop her.'
