Don't Put Batteries In Any Of Your Waste Bins

A recycling truck and our recycling plant have caught fire this week, likely caused by a battery or gas bottle being put in a household bin.

Thanks to quick action from our contractors, the fires were put out and no one was injured.

Please don't put these items in any kerbside bin:

  • Batteries (household, button batteries, car, phone, laptop, power tool, camera and lithium ion)
  • Aerosol cans that are not completely empty
  • Household chemicals
  • Accelerants e.g. petrol, diesel, waste oils
  • Gas bottles or butane cans
  • Flares or ammunition
  • Hot coals, lit cigarettes, disposable Vapes

Check our A to Z rubbish and recycling guide to find out how to safely dispose of these items: https://www.knox.vic.gov.au/WasteGuide
