Driver dies in hospital after crash at Tamworth

A man has died in hospital following a crash in the state's north earlier this month.

About 3pm on Sunday 5 March 2023, emergency services were called to Duri Road, Tamworth, after reports a Toyota Corolla and a B Double truck had collided.

The Toyota driver - an 87-year-old man - and an 88-year-old female passenger were taken to Tamworth Hospital for treatment. The woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being released.

The truck driver – a 27-year-old man - was uninjured and taken to Tamworth Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have since been advised the 87-year—old man died in hospital on Friday (17 March 2023).

Officers attached to Oxley Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
