The Morrison Government is consulting with school representatives on how best to deliver its education reform agenda.
Minister for Education Dan Tehan will meet with non-government education authorities, principals associations, teacher professional bodies, parent associations and peak bodies for students with disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students today in Canberra to discuss the Government's education agenda.
"Our Government is providing record funding to all schools and is delivering the reforms recommended by David Gonski to ensure that every Australian, no matter where they live, has access to a world-class education," Mr Tehan said.
"The Morrison Government wants to work with the education sector to further improve outcomes.
"Today, we will consult the sector on a key Gonski recommendation, the establishment of a national evidence institute to help improve student outcomes by providing evidence on what works in teaching and learning.
"Our Government also wants to cut red tape so teachers can get on with the job of teaching, so we will be discussing how to streamline processes for our teachers and schools.
"We will also discuss developing a national strategy to address the abuse of teachers and school leaders."
Professor Peter Shergold AC, Chair for the Review of senior secondary pathways into work, further education and training, will also give a presentation on the review, coinciding with the discussion paper opening for public consultation.
