Detectives from Drug and Organised Crime have charged two men for the supply and possession of dangerous drugs
On 21 February 2019 police arrested a male at Darwin Airport as he disembarked a flight. He was found to be in the possession on 67 grams of methamphetamine and was arrested on site. Further investigations led police to link this incident to a 44-year-old male.
On 21 May 2019 the 44-year-old male flew to Darwin from Perth where police allege he planned to arrange the transportation of a quantity of methamphetamine and MDMA in a crate. A 27-year-old male collected the crate and met with the 44-year-old male at a Darwin address on 31 May. Police attended and arrested both males at the scene. Police located 112 grams of methamphetamine and 2000 MDMA pills inside the crate.
Police then conducted search warrants at the male's residences where they seized further commercial and trafficable quantities of MDMA and methamphetamine as well as quantities of cash and other indicia of drug supply. A vehicle was also seized.
The 44-year-old was charged with:
• Supply Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Commercial X 2
• Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Commercial X 2
• Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Traffickable
• Possess Thing Administer Dangerous Drug
• Possess Property Commission Of Offence
The 27-Year-Old Male Was Charged With:
• Supply Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Commercial X 3
• Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Commercial X 3
• Supply Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Traffickable
• Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug - Traffickable
• Possess Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug - Less Than Traffickable
• Possess Property Commission Of Offence
• Possess Thing Administer Dangerous Drug
Both males were refused bail are due to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said, "This is a great result. 154 grams of methamphetamine and 2500 MDMA tablets destined for the Darwin drug market have been removed. Police will continue to target and prosecute those involved in the supply of these substances that cause such harm to our community."
