Detectives from Moranbah Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and Gladstone CIB have charged a 53-year-old Dysart man following joint investigations with Australian Border Force (ABF) into suspected drug-manufacturing within the Dysart area.
The investigations began after ABF officers seized multiple air cargo consignments containing a quantity of dangerous drugs and ammunition destined for central Queensland.
Between 23 and 25 February, Central Region officers in conjunction with ABF officers executed search warrants in Dysart and Baffle Creek.
On 26 February, Moranbah detectives executed a search warrant at a Dysart address where it will be alleged officers located a large quantity of drug utensils, a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition, firearm parts, a crossbow, and approximately $7,000 in cash.
At a further search warrant at a Baffle Creek address, officers located a clandestine drug laboratory along with illicit drug manufacturing equipment within a large shipping container.
On 1 April, Moranbah detectives located and arrested a 53-year-old man and declared an emergent search of a Dysart address.
During the search, officers located approximately 75g of methamphetamine and a quantity of GBH and cannabis.
The 53-year-old man from Dysart has been charged with 30 offences, including nine counts of possessing dangerous drugs, five counts of possessing relevant substance or things, four counts of unlawful possession of weapons, three counts each of possessing anything used in the connection of crime, and possessing utensils, two counts of possessing tainted property (currency), and one count each of producing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine), publishing or possessing instructions for producing dangerous drugs, possessing S4 / S8 medicines, and possessing explosives.
He has been remanded in custody and due to reappear before Moranbah Magistrates Court on 16 April.
