Drug seizure - Roper Gulf Region

Northern Territory Police have seized a quantity of drugs after a traffic operation targeting illicit supply in the Roper Gulf Region.

Around midday yesterday, Maranboy officers were conducting a traffic campaign on the Central Arnhem Road.

A silver Holden Utility carrying 5 occupants and traveling to the remote community of Bulman was stopped and searched.

Officers located and seized a total of 69 deal bags containing cannabis.

A 36-year-old man was issued a Notice to Appear before court on 23 November 2023 for drug and driving offences.

Senior Sergeant Thomas Chalk said "NT Police will remain relentless in our ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable communities from the harmful social and financial effects of illicit substances.

"We will not stop our efforts to stamp out their supply and distribution. As frontline workers we are well aware of their devastating impact on the lives of people in vulnerable communities."
