How are Dutch universities working together in times of corona, and which solutions are they offering? On 15 May VSNU chairman Pieter Duisenberg presented the e-zine ‘Universities in times of corona’ (LINK) to Ingrid Van Engelshoven, Minister of Education, Culture and Science. The e-zine contains a selection of the corona-related research and initiatives of universities in The Netherlands.
Students and scientists devote themselves in various ways to provide inventive solutions to the society. From health risk factors to privacy issues, from the psychological impact of a lockdown to the development of ventilation machines, universities are working on the impact of the corona virus across a broad range of fields. The e-zine bundles these initiatives and provides insights into more detailed information about the initiatives and studies that are being carried out in collaboration with different European and international companies and partners.
Minister Van Engelshoven received the e-zine from VSNU chairman Pieter Duisenberg. The Minister praised the commitment of universities in corona times: ‘In many places I see scientists and lecturers from universities who adapt themselves overnight to a completely new reality. They carry out important research about the corona virus while giving lectures and guidance in an online environment. Both have great social value today. Their flexibility and commitment in recent times is top sport and deserves a great compliment!’
