Eastern Beaches Crime Crackdown: Five Arrested, Drugs Seized

Eastern Beaches Police have charged eight people following multiple search warrants across Sydney's east under Strike Force Border.

In February 2026, detectives attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command formed Strike Force Border, to investigate the ongoing supply of prohibited drugs, including cannabis and methylamphetamine within the Maroubra and surrounding areas.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force officers – with the assistance of the Dog unit – commenced a drug detection operation around Maroubra Junction, yesterday (Thursday 16 April 2026), as part of the investigation.

During the operation, strike force officers conducted 13 person searches, one Firearm Prohibition Order compliance check, six move-along directions, two drug detections, four apprehended domestic violence order compliance checks and three bail compliance checks.

There were also numerous interactions with members of the public reinforcing community safety.

As part of the operation, about 7.00am the same day, strike force officers – with assistance from Operation Odin officers – executed four simultaneous search warrants at homes in the Chifley, Maroubra and Daceyville areas.

During the searches, strike force officers located and seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, ammunition, a firearm magazine, a tomahawk axe, a knuckle duster knife, $7935 cash and over $700 in poker machine tickets.

All items will undergo forensic examination.

The combined estimated potential street value of all the drugs seized is $8350.

Following the searches, police arrested five people – three men aged 37, 57 and 33 – and two women – aged 44 and 54 – before taking them all to Sydney police stations.

The 44-year-old woman – who was arrested in Chifley – was taken to Day Street Police Station where she was charged with four offences - supply prohibited drug (two counts) and possess prescribed restrict substance (two counts).

The 37-year-old man – who was arrested in Maroubra – was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with nine offences – eight counts of supply prohibited drug and take part in supply prohibited drug.

The 57-year-old man – who was arrested in Maroubra – was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with seven offences of supply prohibited drugs.

The 54-year-old woman – who was arrested in Daceyville – was taken to Maroubra Police Station where she was charged with three offences - supply prohibited drug (two counts) and goods in custody.

The 33-year-old man – who was arrested in Maroubra – was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug.

The men aged 37, 44 and 57 were refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 7 today (Friday 17 April 2026).

The 54 and 33-year-olds were granted conditional bail to appear before Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 20 May 2026.

Three other people – aged 38, 33 and 30 – were also charged with drug supply offences and will face court at a later date.

Investigations under Strike Force Border continue.
