As part of the North East Link Project's upgrades to the Eastern Freeway, the Elgar Road inbound on ramp will close for 6 weeks from 10:00pm on Wednesday, 29 April.
The closure is required to widen the freeway in this area and complete works on the new citybound entry ramp, which will connect to the upgraded Eastern Freeway.
During this time, the project will also build new noise walls, install on-road technology and carry out pavement works.
Once works are complete the Elgar Road citybound entry ramp will be realigned further west to create space for the construction of new citybound lanes.
What's expected
Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected during peak travel times. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and avoid the area where possible.
The closure will also impact the broader road network, with increased traffic expected on surrounding roads including Doncaster Road, Tram Road and Manningham Road.
Electronic message signs and detours will be in place to guide road users throughout the closure.
