Egg-cellent additions to Ballarat this Easter

A colourful display of giant easter eggs and neon lights have hopped into the Sturt Street gardens just in time for celebrations.

The Insta-worthy activation will feature life size eggs and colourful neon installations by acclaimed visual artist Carla O'Brien.

The display will be in the Sturt Street gardens until 16 April 2023, with the community encouraged to head along and grab some great photos.

The City of Ballarat gardens team has also designed a spectacular easter garden display featuring petunias in bright colours and larger than life Easter eggs at the Victoria Street gardens.

And for sport lovers this Easter, Mars Stadium will host a bumper A-League clash between Western United and the Central Coast Mariners, with kick off at 3pm, Friday 7 April.

Gates will open from 2pm at Mars Stadium for loads of children's activities such as face-painting, photos and autographs from the players and a free easter egg hunt on the hill.

The Power FM Easter Egg Hunt is a free event held on Saturday 8 April from 9am at Alfred Deakin Place. The fun hunt features age-specific sessions and free art activities hosted by the Art Gallery of Ballarat.

The event includes a roving magician, food trucks, and even a visit from the Easter Bunny.

City of Ballarat contributed $5,000 funding from the Tourism Events Grant Program for Power FM to facilitate this great family event.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson wishes all of Ballarat a happy and safe Easter period.

"If you aren't staying in our beautiful city this Easter break, it is really important that you plan your journey and get there safely," he said.

"Take the time and make sure you stop along the way for rest breaks. We want to see you come home safely at the end of the journey.

"Be safe on our roads, look out for each other, look out for yourselves and have a wonderful Easter."
