Elderly man injured in Altona hit-run

Police are investigating after a 92-year-old man was struck by a car that fled the scene in Altona on Sunday.

The Altona man was crossing Pier Street, near the IGA, when a speeding vehicle knocked him to the ground about 5.45pm on 1 May.

The driver, believed to be driving a late-model black Jaguar XR sedan, made no effort to stop at the scene to assist the injured pedestrian.

Luckily the victim sustained only minor injuries, however he remains in hospital under observation.

Police have released images and CCTV of a vehicle they are seeking to identify whose driver may be able to assist investigators with their enquiries.
