Cost of living pressures continue to climb under Labor as new inflation figures confirm significant increases in electricity and gas prices.
New Consumer Price Index (CPI) data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) for Melbourne confirm a 22.1 per cent increase in electricity prices and a 9 per cent rise in gas prices between June 2025 and June 2026.
Labor's war on gas and mismanagement of our energy system has resulted in higher prices and the prospect of energy and gas shortfalls over coming years.
Only our Liberal and Nationals team has a plan to lower energy costs, including by throwing open the door to new conventional gas exploration and establishing an Energy Security Requirement to ensure Victoria has sufficient firm energy supplies.
Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, David Davis, said: "Only our Liberals and Nationals team has a plan to keep the lights on and energy prices low.
"These figures confirm energy prices continue to climb under Labor - meaning greater cost of living pressures on households and a less competitive business environment.
