Electronic Waste Collection Day

If you have old or unwanted electronic items, you can safely dispose of them free of charge at Council's E-Waste Collection. Electronic waste or e-waste is any item with a plug, battery or power cord that is no longer working or wanted.

The E-Waste Collection Day will occur at the Ocean View carpark, Queenscliffe, on Saturday 11 May 2024 from 9 am to 1 pm.

All e-waste is safely dismantled into components including plastic, glass, metal wirings and circuit boards. These components are sent to recyclers and manufacturers to be made into new products.

Residents can drop-off the following electronic items for recycling:

  • Household appliances
  • TV and telecommunication equipment
  • Electrical tools
  • Electronic toys
  • Sporting equipment
  • Mobile phones and telecommunications equipment

However, the following items will not be accepted:

  • Light globes
  • Large or bulky items like whitegoods
  • Smoke detectors
  • CD's and DVDs
  • Large batteries such as car or e-bike batteries

Electronic waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in Victoria. When not properly disposed of or recycled, e-waste can emit pollutants and become a serious health and environmental problem. This event offers a convenient way to drop off electronic waste to be safely disposed of and recycled.

If your e-waste is still in good working condition but no longer wanted, please consider donating these items to a charity or op shop, or giving it away on Facebook marketplace to someone who would have use of it.

Gather your e-waste and head down to the Ocean View carpark, Queenscliffe, on Saturday 11 May 2024 from 9 am to 1 pm. No trucks or commercial quantities will be accepted.
