A new study hub in the Ellenbrook Library has opened, offering local tertiary students a space to study, meet and access dedicated support staff.
As of Monday, April 28, when the hub became operational, students can now access high-speed WiFi, hot desks, comfortable study areas, in-person support and guidance, study advice and workshops/social events.
Ellenbrook Study Hub is just one of three university study hubs in WA that successfully received the Federal Government's inaugural Suburban University Study Hubs Program.
The program expands access to tertiary education support for students living in outer metropolitan and peri-urban areas of Australia.
Ellenbrook Study Hub services are being delivered in partnership with Lumen, who operate a number of high-quality Wheatbelt Regional University Study Hubs.
Tanya Richardson, City of Swan Mayor, said the hub is a fantastic space for local students to access high-quality study services much closer to home.
"For City of Swan residents who have to travel quite a distance to access tertiary study services, having the newly opened Ellenbrook Study Hub so close to home will make it easier for them to get the services they need without the long commute," she said.
Elise Woods, Lumen Wheatbelt Regional University Centre Director, said Lumen is thrilled to be delivering another high-quality study hub to the outer-metropolitan area.
"We are proud to open the doors at the Ellenbrook Study Hub, a vibrant new space that will help students from Ellenbrook and surrounding communities access higher education opportunities closer to home," she said.
"This partnership between RDA Wheatbelt and the City of Swan represents a strong commitment to supporting students in the community, not just in Ellenbrook and surrounding suburbs, but also in the neighbouring peri-urban areas of the Wheatbelt.
"Together, we are creating pathways for outer-metropolitan and regional students to succeed and thrive."
The Ellenbrook Study Hub is open from 6am to 10pm every day, and student support staff are on site during business hours, Monday to Friday.
