Emergency crews responding to fire at clothes store in Bendigo

Detectives from Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit are investigating following a suspicious fire at a well-known clothing store in Bendigo overnight.

Police have been told witnesses heard glass breaking and saw two offenders pour an unknown substance on the window of the store in Mills Street just before 12.30am.

The fire quickly engulfed the premises before the pair were seen running from the scene towards Mitchell Street.

The store sustained significant damage

Police have spoken to the witnesses however are appealing for anyone with information or any other witnesses to come forward.

A crime scene was set up and remains today while police await the attendance of an arson chemist to assist with the investigation.
