An emergency fodder depot for fire affected livestock will be opened today in Mudgee.
Bushfire affected landholders needing emergency fodder are required to ring the Agriculture and Animal Services Hotline on 1800 814 647 to request support.
The fodder distribution centre in Mudgee is planned to be open for a week.
Local Land Services and the Department of Primary Industries, along with local partner groups are working to support landholders affected by devastating bushfires.
"If you have livestock that have been left without feed or water due to the bushfires please call the Hotline now," said the regional Incident Controller for Agriculture and Animal Services, Nigel Gillan.
Immediate assistance is available to help give landholders time to assess their situation and make plans for their stock.
"We have staff on the ground assisting fire affected communities to manage animal welfare-related issues," said Mr Gillan.
"This includes emergency fodder and stock water, animal assessment and veterinary assistance, stock euthanasia and burial, livestock feeding and management advice" he continued."
Access to some fire grounds remains unsafe in some areas, but where possible, teams are working to assess the full extent of losses of livestock and agricultural infrastructure.
"This is why we are urging landholders to please register with the hotline so we know where you are and what help you require," continued Mr Gillan
"We are here to help landholders for the duration of the emergency and will remain on hand for the recovery to help our communities and producers with the difficult times ahead."
Bushfire affected residents can check the Department of Primary Industries emergency website for updates on locations of animal facilities and current fodder sites as well as monitor Local Land Services Facebook pages.
